This will make you HATE being successful 😠
For a long time, there is a Chinese proverb that made me hate being successful:
树高招风
Translate: When the tree is high, it attracts strong wing.
So likewise when you are successful and become a big name in your industry…
Competitors will make you their target.
Haters will talk sh*t behind your back.
Enemies will plot to take you down.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise really if you have been in the business world long enough or you watch enough TV drama.
Think The Crown or Yanxi Palace.
So there are really two options here.
Stay small and no one will target you.
Or grow big (as you are meant to!) but surround yourself with an army of loyal fans and wise counsel.
They will keep you in business.
Whenever you are under attack by your haters or online trolls, your army of loyal fans will come to your rescue.
Whenever you are met with competition or a difficult situation, your wise counsel will help you navigate and make the best decision that is in your interest.
As for wise counsel, make sure you have a lawyer in the circle.
A lawyer can warn you of legal exposures that may cost you lawsuits and reputation damage.
A lawyer can protect you from harm by your own employees, partners and competition.
A lawyer can act as a deterrence for your competition and haters.
So on your way up, make sure you have a lawyer friend whom you can count on for wise counsel.
