Why is everyone going crazy over Clubhouse?🤔

If you haven’t heard of the word “Clubhouse”, you must be living under a rock haha.

Clubhouse is the latest social media invention that many people – including me – are going crazy over.

Before I explain why, let me answer your most immediate question.

What is Clubhouse?

It is an audio chat app.

Huh?

Ok let me try again.

Think of it like a mash up of three apps:

WhatsApp (audio chat)

x LinkedIn (networking)

x Podcast (learning).

Better?

So why are people going crazy over the app?

Three reasons why.

Reason 1: Exclusivity

Remember Gmail? You can only get this email service if your friend invite you.

It is the same with Clubhouse.

You can only get in by invite.

And here’s the thing about human beings.

We only appreciate what we don’t have.

So when we see all our friends in Clubhouse but we are not, we go into FOMO state.

Fear of missing out.

And we rush to get in so we don’t feel left out.

Reason 2: Positivity

After being on Clubhouse for a month, I got to say the people I meet so far in the rooms are positive, encouraging and generous.

It is unreal!

I suspect it is because we can hear your voice.

So you can’t really “hide”.

Which is why people are generally nicer.

There is hardly any “showing off” on this app.

Maybe only in the bio.

But in general, the people on Clubhouse are eager to share their experiences and help one another.

Just get into any rooms and you will know what I mean!

Reason 3: Connectivity

Clubhouse launched mid last year, at a time when people are stuck at home because of the global pandemic.

Yes there is ZOOM but it reminds us of work… and you got to switch on the camera.

But with Clubhouse, you can easily connect with anyone in the world without showing your face.

You can set up your own private rooms to catch up with your good friends.

You can join in social rooms to chit chat like what you will do in cafes and coffeeshops.

You can enter thematic rooms to hear people sing or tell ghost stories. I know right? Haha.

Or for the learning machines like myself, you can pick rooms that covers topics you want to learn about.

Clubhouse reminds us that at the core of who we are, we yearn to connect and belong.

This is why 6 million people in the world, including heavyweights like Elon Musk and Tony Fernandes are spending so much time on Clubhouse these days.

Perhaps you want to give Clubhouse a try too?

And if you are already on Clubhouse I would love you to join me tonight (Tues) at 10.30pm SG time (GMT +8) in this room.

“How to get the most out of your Clubhouse experience”

I got invited by a KLR star to share my Clubhouse experiences and I plan to let you in on how you can use Clubhouse to learn, network and brand yourself.

Just look me up on Clubhouse.

Search for my name “Eric Feng”.

Hit follow.

And hit the bell button too.

So tonight at 10.30pm when I enter the room, you will be notified.

Conversations are NOT recorded. Also why people are so willing to share.

So you must be IN the room to benefit.

It will be fun I promise

See you tonight 10.30pm SG time,

Eric Feng

STOP CARING ABOUT THE LIKES, SHARES AND VIEWS...

These are just fruits.

If a farmer wants his tree to bear fruits, he does not focus on the fruits. He focus on the soil, the water and the sun.

Likewise if you want your social media tree to bear fruits (likes, shares, views), focus on the soil, the water and the sun.
